You would think that loving fashion and buying almost every season from fashion stores would make it easy to design your own line. Well, you are wrong! There are so many coordination work and sample making and return that is not as simple as we thought it would be. But there are always lessons learned.
First up: Pattern Making Skill
Learning how to draw pattern is not as easy as drawing the sort of clothes you like. It's like when you first learn how to write. Knowing the word doesn't make you know how to write it instantaneously. But, we persevered and tried to learn as much as we can to bring you a better product with every new collections. Just to make things slightly easier to understand, I would illustrate with an example. I am going to use our skirt, Ariel - a mermaid type of skirt as an example. 1. Start with a pencil skirt pattern.
I took that straight from the internet. But basically because we have 2 different colours, we cut of the middle part, which later on we sewed back to make 2 different colours.
2. Create the ruffle
Attach it to the bottom of your pencil skirt and VOILA! you have yourself a pencil skirt.
I know I simplify it quite a bit. There are measuring, drawing and so many more things associated with pattern making but this is the big picture.
BTW, WE ARE VERY HAPPY TO ANNOUNCE THAT WE ARE LAUNCHING THIS MONDAY. PLEASE COME AND SUPPORT US BY:
